American Role in the Middle East

The U.S. is considered a "global power". In other words people see it as a country that is helping the world, or they see it as a country that is trying to put there nose in every other countries business. So the question is, should the U.S. be helping Israel the way they are right now? Is it fair? Explain why or why not.

    I think that Israel is a very valuable ally in the middle east, without which, we're kinda screwed. However, by being so close with Israel we create a lot of tension in other areas. I think that if we're going to say we're neutral, and that we can police the middle east, then that close of a tie with Israel needs to stop. But for right now, we really need them.

    I think that the US should help Israel because it increases their loyalty to us. However, the extent to which we're helping them seems kind of ridiculous. The amount of money we have focused in that country every year is a staggering amount, so it is unfair in that sense, but without them, we wouldn't be able to be as close in the action.

    The way the U.S. is helping Israel right now is not fair to anyone. We give them billions of dollars every year, which is funded towards wars with palestine. We are just funding a deadly wars that is going no were. THis is not fair.

    Becca pretty much said it. We need a stronghold in the Middle East, and we have that in Israel. I agree there are a lot of problems financially in the situation. Also, it makes a lot of enemies. All in all, we need that ally in the middle east.

    I do not think that the US should be helping out Israel. Although it will help us build ties with them, it will only draw us into more of their problems later on down the road. We don't need all these allies if it's only going to involve us to everyone's problems in some way.

    The USA shouldn't be helping out with Israel in this way. It seems somewhat unfair to me, as well as problematic. We don't need for that relationship to be there, and just costs money and causes us problems with other countries in the region. Also, if we offer Israel so much aid for missles and weapons, we should be offering that much aid to other countries in much greater need for things such as water and food.

    I think america should pull out of foreign countries, we have problems going on here and to be wasting time and resources to create and maintain and so called "ally" it is not worth it. we need to stop trying to be superman and focus on problems within the USA.

    The U.S. helping Israel the way they are is not "fair," because by helping israel they are condoning the poor treatment of palestinians and stirring up all sorts of conflicts in the middles east. i agree with becca though, that being friends with israel allows us a good foothold in the middle east and is necessary for the time being.
