What is your opinion on why we are helping Israel? Do you believe that it is because we thought that the Jews deserved the land? Or that maybe it is a very strategic place in the Middle East.
Quite honestly I don't believe that it is a black and white situation. There clearly are some grey areas. For instance, a huge part of the reason the United States is over there is to have a stronghold on the Middle East. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that the U.S. does not support the jewish people of Israel.
I think that the United States does support the jewish people of Israel, however i don't think we would put so much of our funding into it if it didn't have a larger benefit to ourselves. I think that having a military stronghold in the middle east is a priority, and Israel helps us do this.
I think that we are helping them to send a clear message to everyone else. That clear message is simple, we will not offiliate ourselves with terrorist organizations, hence why we are funding countries that have a problem with terrorist organizations. We are helping the people, but conveniently it gives us a military stronghold as well. Nice how things work out.
I believe that the US is there for strategic reasons. First off it gets us in the middle east and it gives us reason to fight whoever we need to through Israel.
The reason we are in the middle east always goes back to omeny, would this be the same story if there was no oil in the Middle East? No. We are trying to better relations with these countries that give us oil, we are sly sons of guns.
I agree with Jeff, as my opinion is that we are merely trying to gain more ties with the oil being produced in the middle east. We are already in an economic crisis so if we become more tied in with the oil industry then it might help us out a little, although the reason why we are in an economic crisis is partly because of us trying to help out other countries, Israel, with money we do not have
The reason that we're helping out Israel so much isn't really simple. I think that we put it out there that we're their largest ally because without our support, they would be crushed by other forces in the region. Yet, I think that we keep such a tight relationship is so we can have another ally in that area and pulling out would be a PR nightmare.
